Waterfront Settings

Charleston's waterways help define both the geography and the lifestyle of the region. From the vast open waters of the Atlantic, to Charleston Harbor, the Ashley and Cooper rivers, countless tidal rivers and creeks and expansive saltwater marsh, there are endless opportunities and settings to enjoy life on the water when you live in the Lowcountry.

Experience This Lifestyle
Boating

Area marinas accommodate jon boats, mega yachts and everything in between. The city has an active sailing community, though one of our favorite ways to experience Lowcountry waterways is on a kayak, canoe or paddleboard.

Fishing & Crabbing

Charleston anglers enjoy inshore, offshore and deep sea fishing year-round of redfish, flounder, black drum and more. Local outfitters can help you locate the best spots, or head to one of the area's expansive fishing piers and give it a try!

Surfing

On most days you'll find surfers in search of a good ride at any of the area beaches. You'll also see kite boarders riding waves and flying through the air along the shoreline. Local outfitters offer lessons, camps and equipment for all types of watersports.

Living on the Water

Our beach communities offer properties with Atlantic, tidal creek, marsh and Intracoastal Waterway views. Or choose a home with a dock for easy access to boating and fishing.
